Rain, rain DON’T go away

Rain, rain go away...
Come again some other day!   Or night.

Last night it rained. I guess you know that too. That rain , for me was a straight up message from God. The sun, all day, was beautiful, warm and drew so many of us outside to play. We even found a way to play together. Yesterday in this town I know of a mom driving a birthday girl on a scavenger hunt from friends’ yards. Social distancing was obeyed to the letter. But fun and fresh air was had!!! Another birthday was celebrated for a sweet woman that needs to stay in her home. One by one, people dropped off flowers from their garden, potted plants, balloons tied to signs in her yard, dinner and cake!!! The only thing we missed out on was the hugs. Porch pick up and drop off has become common. I picked up an outgrown toy and delivered it to little girls ready for the fun. Yesterday was God’s beauty and perfection wrapped up in fun.

Later that evening, still basking in the fun feels, the wind picked up. I opened the windows to smell the spring air. And then came the rain. Immediately I was thankful for the rain coming at night rather than during the day! Saying a quick prayer of thank you, I jumped up to close the windows. Then...the smell...  Rain. Warm, cleansing rain. It was as if I could almost smell the world being washed by the Heavens. In my mind, as I stood there and inhaled deeply, was that God is bringing rain to wash away all the impurities.

I immediately thought of Words spoken by the prophet Jeremiah,  “Are there any among the false gods of the nations that can bring rain? We set our hope on you God, because you do this!”  God’s got this people. God isn’t hiding, or gone, or standing back. Like a loving parent, God sees the mess like his child’s messy room and watches as we clean it up, working with us side-by-side doing the heavy lifting. All the while, you know God is hoping we keep it nice this time.

We still have fun (thank you Nicole) and we still have warm sun and we still
have rain. There are still celebrations to have, fresh air to enjoy and night rains to clean the world. All brought to you by the letter G! (God)

Today:
• Find fun. If you can’t find it, make it, for you and someone else.
• Go outside and breathe, feel the warmth.
• Create! Quit waiting for the world to go back to the way it was. Pray it doesn’t. Pray that it becomes new.
• Prepare for the rain to come again (forecast says Sunday evening!)
